I mean, who didn't do like 50 of these when you were a kid? I did the coloring using my left hand, which, if you're a righty, is the best way to fake kid-style scribbles. The first night we were presented with a client, Trencherman's Brewing Co., and then we had less than 24 hours to put together an entire identity, collateral, and website system. We came up with a mascot, Thurgood Trencherman. The CB2 merchandising team liked the installation I did at The Whistler, so we aimed to get a similar neighborhood-y feel. This project was a whole new challenge (carpet format, tiling, gigantic files), but ohhh my gosh was it fun. Getting to brainstorm and draw out each little interaction for this cast of made-up people was the best part. What do you think is going on with them? AND HEY! They're for sale! After drinking there, like, all the time, I got to know the bartenders and started drawing them. Soon I drew all of them, and then the new employees were asking me to draw them! That's kind of how it started. I submitted a proposal to do a slice-of-life window installation, featuring doodles of (made-up) Logan Square scene folks.
